The new center opens its doors Wednesday at the old Garland Elementary School campus and is meant to help keep track of students trying to skip class.

It's part of a partnership with Little Rock police and the Little Rock School District to deal with truancy in a more organized manner.

Rather than taking students who are found out of school to just any campus, they will now be brought to a central location and as an added bonus will get a free ride back to their proper campus.

"Then at noon the school district provides a bus to transport them back to school in hopes they get at least half a day of learning," said Sergeant Cassandra Davis with Little Rock Police. "Make it easier for LRSD to keep track."

The new center also comes with a daytime curfew that applies while school is in session.
