Car Wrapped in Power Wires Removed from Central Arkansas Roadway

Entergy crews spent much of the afternoon and evening hours working on Kavanaugh Boulevard, trying to get roughly one thousand customers back on line in Little Rock.
A Jeep that became tangled up in downed power lines was just one of the obstacles they faced when getting work underway.
"I was driving through here Tuesday night when suddenly something shifted," the driver of the Jeep said after she checked in with the Entergy crew Thursday. "All of a sudden my car was caught and I saw the power pole leaning."
Holly Hall was following several other cars down the road, when her car became ensnared. She called police, but even firefighters weren't prepared to deal with the power lines.
"You know when the police and fire departments won't touch it that it's probably more serious than you originally thought," she said. "But today's been the best news yet. I've been walking down here every day and this is the first time I've seen a power crew here."
By five o'clock Thursday night, Hall's car had been freed, the pole replaced, and the wires returned to their airborne position.
"She did exactly the right thing. She called police. She stopped. If she hadn't stopped, there could have been a domino effect. Other poles could have been snapped down, other cars could have been damaged. People could have been hurt," Entergy crew member Desi Hunter said.
According to Hunter, drivers who get caught in power lines or have lines fall on their vehicles should remain in the car and call police. He advises drivers to always assume downed lines are live, and not to get too close to downed lines if you're out walking or playing in the yard.
