Thousands of Arkansans Coping with the Cold

When it comes to coping with this cold without any electricity, it can be bearable for a little while, but as hours turn into days, it can certainly take its toll.

So when the snow is deep, it's time to pull out the big guns.

"Very serious four wheeler, yes mam and I used the jeep this morning just to get to Wal-Mart, said Phillip Grauel.

Other residents in Maumelle are getting by the best way they know how with no power for the second day.

"Why are you sitting in your car? It is so cold in my apartment." "I've been in my car since 7 this morning, said Maumelle resident, Cynthia."

Another family prepared to hunker down with flashlights and a board game, to add some fun to an almost unbearable situation.

"It's too much for me, it would be okay if we had power, said Karen Howell."

"The power is right there! So we are wanting to get it over here,so that's the problem, added Tony Brooks."

Hotels in Maumelle are filling up with folks that just couldn't take the cold at home.

"About 5 o'clock yesterday evening the power went out, so we had to get a room, said Zack Craddock."

And at a $105 a night, Entergy officials say Maumelle residents could be without power for at least a week.

"Seven days? seven days? well we will be here for seven days then, said David Craddock."

For some getting around for days without power - no problem.

For others it will continue to be a struggle.
