Safety matters during the holidays families in Clark County being reminded of that Christmas Eve.

Two homes were destroyed in less than a week after fires ripped them apart in one neighborhood.

Flames poured out of the windows as a mobile home burst at the seems with smoke fighting to escape. The thick black smoke filled the Amity sky Monday afternoon.

The trailer home along W. Texas Street fell to pieces in front of the entire neighborhood.

"I thought 'lord have mercy', I guess it's true when it rains it pours," said Lewis Travis. "I can't believe it I'm just in shock."

Just minutes before, Travis was sharing with KARK his story of how his two boys saved his life just a week prior when their house suffered the same fate.

"Oh I know what they're going through cause I just lost everything I had."

We were there to share their story how Tyler Travis and his little brother saved their father.

While in our daily routine though, running through how we would compose our story, we saw another home just yards away burst into flames.

The explanation could be overheard through neighbors telling the homeowner how we discovered the fire, "They looked up and saw smoke coming from your trailer. Girl it's burning everywhere."

To add to the Travis' family troubles, Lewis actually owns and rents out the other home that caught fire Monday.

The town had already rallied around them helping during the holidays and it seems like they have another family on their hands now.

The Red Cross tells KARK it is providing assistance to the family. Six children, ages 3 to 14, lived in the home. To learn more about the Red Cross' disaster assistance efforts, click here.
