"It totally caught me by surprise," said Justine Lentz, Superintendent of Fayetteville Animal Services.
'Tis the season to make spirits bright at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.
"The best gift of all is how it impacts you and the feeling of being a giver is a priceless experience, there's just nothing like it... All of our team members at Mitchell Communications Group are going out into teams all over the region to ignite our community with random acts of kindness," said Elise Mitchell, President & CEO of Mitchell Communications Group.
She sent her teams on a mission to make an impact in their community. They each chose a charity, beneficiary, project or group of people to help, with only $500 and four hours.
"We had this group of lovely ladies come in and they were like we want to do something to help and it started out as buying a few supplies and ended up with sponsoring the adoption fee of everyone in the facility, at which point I almost fell out of my chair," said Lentz.
The adoption fees for every canine companion and feline friend were paid for.
"We are so blessed and we feel that it is our responsibility and our opportunity to give back to others," said Mitchell.
So with a surprise fitting for the season and only five days to go, Lentz has one Christmas wish.
"I would love to have empty cages on Christmas Day... This just really sheds a light on something that I think is fantastic for the holidays season and that's getting animals into homes that otherwise would spend it here alone."
The shelter is open Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you want to pick up a dog or cat for the holidays, head to the shelter, fill out an application and if approved, you can take your new friend home at no cost!
In addition to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, Mitchell Communications Group team members reached out to Lifestyles, Veteran's Center, Fayetteville Youth Center, Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Children's Safety Center, 7Hills Homeless Center, and Lifesource International.
