For hundreds of needy families in Central Arkansas, Santa Claus arrived a little early.

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program on Thursday morning provided more than 300 families with toys and clothing in Sherwood.

For volunteer Rebecca Gray, this was her way of making a difference for others.

"I think rather then just getting all focused on the materialism, it's best to go out and help others," she said.

The charity says it has collected well over 10,000 items for this year's drive.

It plans to have another giveaway in Saline County over the weekend.
