The Benton Police Department (BNPD) is boosting security for the city's schools in the wake of Friday's Connecticut school shooting tragedy.

The BNPD is increasing the number of marked and unmarked patrols on all campuses alongside school resource officers to increase security and offer parents peace of mind.

The extra patrols will become part of officers' regular duties.

BNPD officers undergo regular training in handling school shooting situations.
