It happened Saturday afternoon around 4:45 along North Bowman Road. A police officer on patrol said he heard two to three loud bangs before he was flagged down by several people reporting the shooting.
Police say the 27-year-old owner of Urban Swagg said three suspects beat him in the head and face before tying him up and then tying up his 25-year-old girlfriend too.
It happened after the men walked into the business and two of them looked around while the third man put a gun in the owner's face and told him to get behind the counter. The suspect then asked for the key to the cash register. When the store owner pushed the weapon out of his face, the three suspects attacked him, he told police.
According to the police report, the suspects then stole some expired concert tickets and took $200 from the woman before running outside. The owner got his hands and feet free and ran after the men, firing about six shots at them with his Colt .38 revolver. Two witnesses said the suspects shot back at the owner. The three men told police they saw an orange and black Chevrolet Avalanche and a red Honda Accord that were possible vehicles the suspects got away in.
The beaten store owner was treated at the scene by paramedics.
A bullet hole was found in the door of a vehicle parked in the area, but no one else was hurt.
Police describe the suspects as black men, two of whom are 20 to 25, and the other 25 to 30. One of them was 6'0", 180 pounds and the other two were 5'3", 170 pounds. One was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, another had on a grey hoodie and blue jeans, and the third was wearing a ball cap and race car jacket.
