A search is underway in El Dorado for a new police chief.

The city's Civil Service Commission will be responsible for making the hire.

The opening was officially posted Wednesday and commission officials say anyone interested can pick up an application from city hall.

Current El Dorado Police Chief Ricky Roberts announced earlier this year that he will be retiring and his last day will be March 1, 2013.

The Civil Service Commission hopes to have a new chief in place by the end of January.
