Little Rock Fire Department (LRFD) officials have released new details on a deadly house fire on the city's southwest side.
A 31-year-old man died in the blaze that broke out around 5:30 this morning at 8715 Verbena Drive, but his name is not yet being released.
Two other people were hurt in the fire, the LRFD said. One of them suffered cuts and other injuries from jumping out an upstairs window, the other was treated for breathing problems. Nothing further is known about their conditions. A fourth person inside when the fire broke out was not hurt, but helped one other person get out of the downstairs area of the home by breaking out a window.
LRFD says the fire victims reported being woken up by cracking, popping sounds and smoke.
Several neighbors called 911 to report the fire, the LRFD said.
The fire's cause is still under investigation.
