Four Arkansas school districts have been taken off the fiscal distress list by the board of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE).

The action was announced this morning during meetings in Little Rock.

The school district's off the list include:
  • Dermott
  • North Little Rock
  • Strong-Huttig
  • West Side (Cleburne County)
The ADE also decided to keep the Mineral Springs School District on the fiscal distress list.

The ADE said the North Little Rock School District provided a great example of a district that's doing "all the right things."

In advance of today's meeting, Dermott School District leaders had said the district has balanced its budget by making cuts to teacher positions, the football program, and bus drivers.

The district has increased its budget by about 500-thousand dollars since making the cuts over the past year.
