KARK 4 Kicks off 'Week of Giving' to Benefit Arkansas Food Bank

Monday kicks off KARK 4's Week of Giving benefiting the Arkansas Food Bank.

Across the state, thousands go hungry every single day and many more do not know where their next meal will come from. That's where the Arkansas Food Bank comes in.

The food bank supports food pantries around the state, like the one at the Community Enrichment Center in Arkadelphia, where even volunteers are sometimes food recipients.

Dorothy Blevens is a retired school librarian who needed help after expensive medical treatments for her husband and daughter.

"I still believe you just need that little help to get you over the edge," Blevins says. "It might be a few groceries this week or next week, every little bit helps."

Blevens also works to give back, spending time as a volunteer at the food bank as well.
