Original story (December 3):
A Fayetteville man charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer is expected to go on trial this morning.

Police say Sergio Andrade-Martinez fired several rounds at officers from the balcony of his Bedford Loop apartment last March during a standoff with officers.

Investigators had tried pulling over the 50-year old man in a traffic stop near his apartment, just blocks away from the University of Arkansas campus.

Police say Andrade-Martinez then drove off, leading them on a chase that ended on Bedford Loop.

That's when Andrade-Martinez locked himself in an apartment, before coming out and firing shots at police.

Officer Blake Williamson was shot in the leg.

Six other officers also exchanged gunfire with Andrade-Martinez. Those six returned to duty four days later, while Officer Williamson was out of action until June.
