Some people already have their Christmas trees up and are ready for the season.

While artificial trees make decorating simpler, some can't imagine their home without the real thing.

"I've heard the saying that an artificial tree equals an artificial Christmas," says Shelia Welch while shopping for her Christmas tree in South Arkansas on Wednesday.

She's buying her tree from the Old Milo Tree Farms in Hamburg (Ashley County).

Welch says there's nothing like a real tree to decorate her home.

"I like the scent of a tree and this was a blue ice. It has a light citrusy smell sort of like an orange," she explains.

Old Milo Tree Farms was started by Lonni and Brad Davis in 2006 after they found it hard to find a real Christmas tree in their area. Now, six years later, they have grown a selection of Leyland Cypress Trees, Frasier Firs, and Carolina Sapphire Trees for people to choose for their homes.

Co-owner Lonni Davis has suggestions on what you can do to keep your tree healthy.

"Fresh water is the only thing you need to take care of these trees as soon as you cut them, just keep them watered and check them daily. They will drink for the first two weeks pretty much everyday," she says.

And even with the slow economy, Davis says that business at Old Milo Tree Farms has been good.

"Our business has picked up over the last two years because people are just now finding out about us," says Davis.

And if you're not ready to get rid of your tree even after Christmas, don't worry, Davis says they can last six to eight weeks.
