Zachary Holly was officially charged with rape, capital murder, kidnapping and residential burglary during a bond hearing in Benton County Wednesday.
He was denied bond and will remain in jail.
Holly is accused of killing six-year old Jersey Bridgeman after her body was found November 20th in a house just two doors down from her home.
The hearing began at 1:50 p.m. About 50 people were in attendance, including police chief Jon Simpson and Jersey's mother DesarRae, along with the grandmother, step-grandfather and friends. She handed out purple bracelets to those sitting with her at the hearing.
Holly was not required to speak at the hearing. He remained silent as his lawyers, including public defender Jay Saxton, asked to review the decision to deny bond. The rape charge was was added during the hearing in addition to the charges Holly was arrested on Monday.
A woman who says she has been friends with Holly told us he "has learning disabilities" and that a couple of days after Jersey was found he had remarked "I hope I don't get the death penalty."
