Little Flock Mayor Considers Cutting Police Department

The Little Flock Police Department in Northwest Arkansas will remain in operation, at least for now, but it's future is uncertain.

Mayor Buddy Blue is looking for ways to cut the budget, and says one option is for the Benton County Sheriff's Office to absorb the city's police force.

A committee met Tuesday night at City Hall to discuss the option and decided to leave the department unchanged through 2013.

However, Mayor Blue says the city will move forward with budget cutting measures that will likely affect the Police Department more heavily because it makes up a majority of the budget.

Comments

Why is cutting the Police and/or Fire one of the 1st things that our government says they have to cut when the budget is a problem. Police and Fire should be the LAST thing to cut.
