We've given thanks, shelled out big bucks for hot ticket items on Black Friday, now it's time to give back.
According to a new study, the state of Arkansas gives back in a big way and they've named the zip codes, shelling out the biggest bucks to charities.
Today all across the U.S. people are celebrating Giving Tuesday, started by hundreds of charities, to kick off the giving season.
At the same time The Chronicle of Philanthropy came out with its list of most generous zip codes.
According to it, Arkansas ranks 8th in giving across the U-S.
Chenal, top the list with $41 million.
Pleasant Valley, came in second with $24.8 million.
And third, the Heights with $22.8 million.
Amy Blackwell, with Arkansas Association of Fundraising, said even though the economy is in a slump people will still give in Arkansas.
"I think a lot of times when people have received something, they want to give something back in return, so somebody who needed money in 2008, 2009, 2010, then they are going to start giving more cause they received something, said Blackwell."
There are 9-thousand charities in Arkansas that you can donate to.
