The family of a Lonoke County man shot and killed nearly three weeks ago is speaking out for the first time since the arrest of a suspect in the case.

Christopher Reynolds, who was arrested over the weekend, is accused of killing Ernest Hoskins at a home in Ward. Police say Reynolds' gun accidentally went off.

Hoskins' family and their attorney said Monday they can't understand how an accidental shooting could turn fatal.

Hoskins' wife Nikki Hoskins said, "Why would you point a loaded gun at a man with no intentions of using it? I was taught in weapons training that, loaded or unloaded, you don't play with guns."

Reynolds faces first degree murder charages and is expected to make his first court appearance tomorrow.
