Update: Benton Police Searching for Sex Offender First Arrested Last Month

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: December 18, 2012
Update (December 18):
The Benton Police Department (BPD) is searching for a sex offender for the second time within a month.

William Marsh, 48, was arrested three weeks ago for living too close to a daycare facility.

Since then, Marsh has bonded out of jail and had been scheduled to meet with detectives about his registration and home address.

The BPD says Marsh didn't contact the detectives and they have been unable to find him since his release. A warrant has been issued for Marsh for Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration and Reporting Requirements.

Anyone with information on Marsh's location is urged to call the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171 or (501) 315-TIPS.

Anonymous crime tips can also be sent via text to CRIMES (274637) with the keyword BNPD in the body of the text.

Original story (November 26):
A Benton sex offender has been arrested for not complying with registration requirements and not reporting his latest address.

Last Tuesday, the Benton Police Department (BPD) says officers found William Marsh, 48, a Level 3 (High Risk) sex offender living within a half-mile of two daycares*.

He was arrested and charged with Failure to Comply with Registration and Reporting Requirements.

The BPD says detectives received information that Marsh wasn't in compliance of his release terms by living at an unregistered address in Benton.

*Sex offenders in Arkansas are not allowed to live within 2,000 feet of property on which any public or private elementary or secondary school or daycare facility is located.
