Some questioning why police didn't do a more thorough check into a Maumelle home, where they say a man shot and killed his wife, then himself.

Records show, the wife had a protective order against her husband, on file with the police department.

The Maumelle Chief of Police, tells KARK, the initial call came in as a burglary from the alarm company, which would not have alerted them, an order of protection was on file.

The chief says his department followed standard procedure for that call.

"We had three officers at that house, going around the house, looking through windows, banging on doors, ringing door bells, trying to get somebody to the house, said Sam Williams."

Chief Williams said officers went back, after a call came in from a child in that home.
