Are the current laws up to date if you go through a divorce in Arkansas?

That's what one representative posed to a judiciary committee Monday afternoon.

Representative Jeremy Gillam says he wanted to open the discussion on alimony and spousal support after constituents asked that they be reviewed, especially given the state's changing economic situation.

"There's several, I feel, we could bring back more in line with where the economy's at and also looking at the general work place situation here in Arkansas as well," Gilliam says. "So there may very well be some room to update."

Representative Gillam added his goal was to see things done as fairly as possible.
