The Paragould Police Department (PPD) has made two arrests in a deadly home invasion.
Rashon D. Webb, 18, of Jonesboro and Lavelle Branch, 18, address unknown, are charged with capital murder in the death of Clinton M. Mason, 90, who police say was shot when his home was broken into early Monday morning.
The PPD says probable cause has been found to charge the teens in the Mason home invasion and a second one that happened Sunday night.
In addition to the murder count, Webb and Branch are also charged with two counts each of aggravated robbery, breaking or entering and aggravated assault.
Both suspects are being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
Original Report (November 19):
The Paragould Police Department is investigating an apparent home invasion that left a 90-year-old man dead early today.
Officers were called to a home in the 800 block of East Court Street shortly before six o'clock this morning.
The victim has been identified as Clinton M. Mason, who died after being taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Paragould Police are also investigating an incident that happened late Sunday night.
At about 11:45, an officer was stopped in the 800 Block of N. 15th Ave. by a woman walking down the street. She told officers she had just been robbed in her home by two men armed with handguns. She said they had knocked on her door requesting to use the phone, pushed their way inside and took an undisclosed amount of money. The woman was not injured in the incident.
Paragould Police say it is not yet known if the two crimes are related; however, interviews are being conducted in the investigation that also includes special agents from the Arkansas State Police and investigators from the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
The Paragould Police asks that if anyone has any information about either of these incidents to call them at (870) 236-7621.
