A task force that deals with abused and neglected children is trying to figure out how to stop kids from making and posting sexually explicit pictures of themselves online or on their cell phones.

"We know we've got a problem, we just don't know what the solution is," said State Sen. Percy Malone, a Democrat who represents District 26.

Malone wrote a draft bill that would make possession of such images a misdemeanor but the task force scuttled that proposal during its meeting Friday afternoon.

"The conversation today--the answer is no, not to make the child a criminal," Malone said, adding the goal is to find a way to educate children that it is inappropriate for them to post and distribute sexually explicit images of minors.

The task force is slated to meet again in three weeks.

Malone says he believes they will come up with a bill for lawmakers to consider in the upcoming legislative session.
