Members of the homeless community in North Little Rock now have toes that are better protected from winter's freezing temperatures, thanks to a volunteer effort by UAMS.

The Soles for Souls clinic takes doctors and nurses from the hospital to give free foot exams and dole out donated shoes and socks.

Doctors also give advice on how people can care for their feet as the cold weather begins.

"It's just fun to get together and see how many people are thankful for what you do. People don't have that kind of stuff that we take for granted," says Kaci Mann, who organized sock donation for the clinic.

Bryant High School's color guard donated 360 pairs of socks to go along with the new shoes, all organized by students at the school who wanted to get involved.
