Following the shooting death of a student near campus in September, Arkansas Baptist College has started taking steps to heighten security.

ABC administrators say existing lights on campus have been replaced and are being monitored to assure they stay in working order.

The college is hiring two additional security officers to cover more shifts at the school, and administrators are coordinating with Little Rock Police to have extra patrols in the surrounding area throughout the day and night.

School officials are also enforcing the Student I.D. policy, which requires students to carry their identification on campus.

Since the incident, the college administrators and executive staff have been provided weekly public safety reports. Discussions regarding a perimeter fence and security cameras are still underway, with funding options being discussed on both fronts.
