A South Arkansas man awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to abuse of a corpse.

Telly Denton, 35, of Smackover (Union County), was accused of helping hide the body of his girlfriend's mother in the trunk of a car last year.

He will be sentenced in January.

Meanwhile, Denton's girlfriend, Donna Jett, 42, goes on trial next month for the murder of her mother, Mary E. Cross, of Norphlet.

Her body was found in the trunk of a car that was submerged in Smackover Creek.
