Leadership changes are coming for El Dorado.

El Dorado's Police Chief Ricky Roberts has announced that he will be retiring effective March 1st after 13 years on the job. It will be up to the Civil Service Commission to find his replacement.

Roberts last official day will be February 28th.

The city council learned of Roberts' decision at its regular meeting Thursday night. In other action, the council voted on spending nine-million dollars to improve economic development in the city by using the money to go towards making El Dorado a festival and events city. The process will reportedly create 260 jobs for the city.

Another announcement was made during the meeting letting residents of the Murmil Heights neighborhood know that their request for another access route in and out of the neighborhood had been denied by the highway department because of safety reasons.

The mayor says he will continue to work on figuring out other alternatives for another access route for the neighborhood.
