A marathon runner from Arkansas is now among the hundreds of thousands impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

Leah Thorvilson is a four-time Little Rock marathon winner. She was excited to take on the New York City marathon this weekend. The race was set to go on until Friday, when New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the race had been canceled because of the storm. Many runners, including Thorvilson, had already made their way to New York.

"It's a tragic situation. It's tough on everybody," Thorvilson told KARK, "I know it wasn't an easy call for the city to make. I know some people who were primed to have their best run, who focused their whole year on this, so it's a tough situation for sure."

Thorvilson says she was looking forward to the race, but she's had a few injuries, so in some ways, the cancellation is working out for her.
