Prosecutors Drop Felony Charges in Garland Animal Cruelty Trial

Updated: November 2, 2012
Garland County prosecutors have dropped felony animal cruelty charges against a 60-year-old kennel owner.

Pamela L. Thomas is still fighting 12 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, according to the prosecutors office.

The charges stem from an investigation last year when sheriff's deputies seized 179 puppies and dogs from her kennel on Barber Shop Trail and turned those animals over to handlers with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, according to court records.

Thomas was originally facing six felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

Her defense attorney is pleading her case in court today.
