A Norfolk man was arrested Thursday morning on three felony charges of theft by receiving.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Gary Allen Morrell II was arrested after an investigation determined he tried to pawn three stolen guitars valued at a total of $9,000.

On Oct. 20, the Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the burglary of a private residence on Baxter CR 108 in the Norfork area where three guitars were reported stolen.

These were a 1950 Gretsch electric guitar valued at $5,000, a Gibson acoustic electric guitar valued at $2,500 and an Alvarez Guitar valued at $1,500.

Morrell was identified as a suspect after he pawned one of the guitars at the PGW, Inc. pawn shop in Lakeview for $400 on Oct. 25, and later attempted to pawn the other two guitars at the same location.

He was taken to Baxter County Detention Center and has since been released after posting $25,000 bond.
