Several Arkansas doctors voiced their support for issue five on Thursday.

A press conference held Thursday morning at the State Capitol featured a guest speaker who discussed the success of the medical marijuana program in New Mexico.

He also addressed regulations, oversight and the impact the act has had on the state.

"In New Mexico our experience has been positive in that a lot of people are deriving relief who received no relief before and are certainly in a better situation; not being liable for possession," said Steve Jenison with the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Program.

New Mexico passed a medical marijuana program similar to the one proposed in Arkansas in 2007.
