Fatal Accident Shuts Down Part of Highway 161 in North Little Rock

North Little Rock Police are investigating a deadly morning traffic accident that killed the driver of a car on the city's east side.
It happened in the Prothro Junction area, shutting down Highway 161 from Bethany Road to Emily Street until a little after 10 o'clock.
North Little Rock Police had to ask drivers to find another way through the area while the accident scene was cleared.
Early reports indicated that a car had slammed into a stopped truck.
No other details have been released.
The accident scene was just south of Interstate 40.
