Medical marijuana laws are on the books in 17 states, while several other states are putting the idea up for consideration this year.

Arkansas has a medical marijuana measure on the November ballot, which, if passed, would make the practice legal in the Natural State.

The states where it's already legal are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington State.
