Alejandro Montoya is behind bars after telling Lawrence County deputies that he was delivering drugs for a Mexican drug cartel called La Familia.

Deputies stopped Montoya in Smithville around 9:15 Saturday night for having no tags and no license.

During the stop deputies found several baggies of meth known as ice, $18,000 in cash, and loaded gun with more ammunition.

Montoya is now being held for deportation after they figured out he was here illegally.
