The Department of Education is getting serious about broken-down schools.

On Friday, the facilities commission will meet to discuss new standards, including proposed changes that would score buildings based on age and give them a ranking.

The most worn-down buildings will be at the top of the list for renovation or demolition.

Officials aim to make sure all Arkansas students have a good, safe school for learning.
