Peabody Hotel Hosts National TB Controllers Conference

There are approximately 9 million new tuberculosis cases across the United States each year.

On Wednesday, representatives met at the National TB Controllers Conference at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Little Rock to discuss the latest treatment plans and education.

"We had 8.7 million cases with 1.4 million deaths," says Arkansas Department of Health Medical Director Naveen Patel. "Although TB is not such a threat here in the US, we need to be very diligent our good controllers have led to rise in TB increase in immigration and travel."

People can have TB for several weeks or months before being diagnosed.
