Police Investigating Overnight Rash of Car Thefts, Burglaries

By: Amanda Ashley, KNWA
Updated: October 23, 2012
Authorities are investigating after 20 cars were broken into and three cars were stolen over a period of just a few short hours in Siloam Springs. Every one of them was unlocked.

Most of the reports came between 10:30 and 6:30 Sunday night into Monday morning in the neighborhood behind Walmart.

According to detective Todd Brakesville, all the vehicles were unsecured and unmonitored, and those that were stolen had the keys inside.

Police are confident about the investigation and said there should be multiple arrests, as one of the stolen cars, a black Honda, has already been recovered with no damage.

Video surveillance footage from Walmart where the black Honda was recovered showed a green Chevrolet pickup following the stolen Honda to the parking lot, according to police.

Anyone with information pertaining to these vehicle break-ins or the three auto thefts can call the Siloam Springs Police Department at (479) 524-4118 ext. 2215.

Come on people. Doors unlocked and keys in the car? It saddens me that people are this stupid.
