Members of Mount Pilgrim Baptist had their first service in a new sanctuary today. This comes after their North Little Rock church was destroyed early last year.
In April of 2011, tornadoes that ripped through the area left the church without a place to meet.
Now, after more than a year, members got together to celebrate the rebuilding and how grateful they were to be able to stick together through hard times.
Pastor James Hayes says, "We had to visit with other churches to have our service, and we're just glad to be back home and finally completed the structure of the building, and now we're back home. It's a warm feeling to be back inside your own place."
The church and its members say they've received a tremendous amount of support from the nearby community, including the churches who gave them a place to come together.
