A man suspected of shooting another man then leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase is in custody.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old Gabriel Jaquez was arrested after shooting 38-year-old Tony Kiehl in the upper chest and arm with a shotgun, then driving away.

Deputies responded to the call on Batesville Pike Road around 4:30 Thursday afternoon, where Jaquez allegedly shot Kiehl, then got into a red Honda Civic that had previously been stolen from a residence on Antler Way.

After seeing the Civic leaving the area, deputies tried to make a traffic stop, but Jaquez kept on driving through North Little Rock and onto Highway 70, where a State Police vehicle performed a PIT maneuver, forcing the suspect to spin into a chain-link fence and into a used car lot where it struck a parked vehicle before coming to a stop.

Jaquez was taken into custody, and a shotgun was recovered from the red Honda Civic.

The shooting victim was taken to UAMS in Little Rock. His condition is currently unknown.

Jaquez was taken to Springhill Baptist in North Little Rock. The exact charges he faces are to be determined pending the completion of the investigation.

Tony Kiehl, 38
