Fort Smith Toddler Drowns in Bucket of Soapy Water

Fort Smith Police say a 15-month old girl has drowned in a five gallon bucket of soapy water.

It happened Tuesday night while the toddler and her parents were visiting relatives at 1418 Dallas Street for haircuts.

Police say when Elvira Manjarrez and Francisco Barroso got ready to leave, they couldn't find their daughter Paolo.

The little girl's aunt, Angelica Manjarrez, found her suspended over the edge of the bucket.

The child was unresponsive and the family performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Officers later found two small toys inside the water-filled bucket.

Police say no foul play is suspected in what appears to be only a tragic accident.
