Back Yard Burgers restaurants have closed across Arkansas.

Corporate officials tell KARK 4 News that there are four franchise locations still open in Arkansas but eight corporate-owned stores were shutdown on Sunday.

That includes the location on Broadway in downtown Little Rock, which appeared abandoned when our news crew drove today. However, there was no sign on the door indicating it had been closed.

When a KARK 4 News crew checked out the Markham Street location, a sign on the door (photo below) said it had closed.

"We regret having to close our Company-owned restaurants in Arkansas. Like any responsible company during these challenging times, Back Yard Burgers is conducting a comprehensive review of its business to ensure the Company is operating efficiently and positioned for future growth. We remain committed to continuing to provide high-quality, freshly prepared, great tasting food to our customers in the other markets we serve and are pleased to report that Back Yard Burgers franchise-owned locations remain in Arkansas," said Monte Jump spokesman for Back Yard Burgers.

It's not yet known the total number of workers who have lost their jobs.

Corporate officials also told KARK 4 News that for a year the company has been reviewing the performance of its locations to make sure they are profitable. They say it's been a very detailed process.

Back Yard Burgers has 40 corporate and more than 60 franchise locations still open across the country today.
