It happened shortly after one o'clock at the E-Z Mart on Rainwood Road and Green Mountain Drive.
According to the incident report, the clerk was shot in the face after the suspect came into the store and asked for a job application before pulling out a gun.
The clerk told police he then tried to get away from the suspect, who chased him through the store and shot him again in the back, after which the clerk ran outside.
Police say the suspect then went around the counter and tried to open the register but was unsuccessful.
The clerk ran to a bar next door and banged on the door for help. He was taken to the hospital with injuries police said were not life-threatening.
People working at the bar told police they noticed a man hanging around outside just minutes before the shooting and had locked the door because he seemed suspicious.
The suspect is described as being a black man in his late teens or early 20's who's about 5'6" tall and weighs about 120 pounds.
He was wearing a black t-shirt with large red letters, long black shorts and red shoes.
The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone coming in contact with someone matching this description is urged to call Little Rock Police at (501) 371-4660 or (501) 371-4636.
