Pine Bluff Police are investigating a house fire believed to be started by a homemade bomb.

According to a police report, officers responded to a house on West Sixth Avenue to assist the fire department just after midnight Monday morning.

An officer arrived before the fire department, and was directed to the back of the house where the resident said the fire was located.

The officer noticed an Absolut Vodka bottle burning in the yard, and located a white rag that was also on fire, believed to be used as the wick, according to the report.

A window on the south side of the house was busted out and the blinds were melted, but the flames inside the house quit burning before the officer's arrival, the report states.

Evidence has been taken for analysis.

This case is being investigated as an arson.
