Update: Monticello Stepdad Sentenced to Life in Prison in Child's Death

MONTICELLO, AR - A Monticello man has been sentenced to life in prison for the beating death of his stepdaughter.
Daniel Pedraza, 24, escaped a possible death sentence by pleading guilty to the 2012 incident on Saturday. A jury deliberated Monday and Tuesday to decide his punishment.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Supreme Court has granted a stay in a Drew County capital murder trial.
The case against Daniel Pedraza, 23, was set to begin next Monday.
Daniel Pedraza, 23, is charged in the February death of his 18-month-old stepdaughter Aubriana Coke.
The Mexican Consulate is also involved in the case because Pedraza is a Mexican national in custody in a case where the death penalty is being sought.
