Five farm animals have been killed by two dogs that got into the Little Rock zoo overnight.

Zoo officials say four goats and one sheep were found dead, and five other animals were injured. Those animals are under the care of the zoo veterinarian.

During rounds this morning, zoo staff found two medium sized dogs in the Children's Farm exhibit. They were described as a pit bull and a white and brown pit bull-terrier mix.

When approached by staff, the dogs escaped under the perimeter fence apparently at the location they entered.

The dogs got into the zoo by digging around an adjacent drain.

Zoo staff regularly inspects the entire perimeter fence for breaches and reinspected the fence again this morning to prevent the dogs or any other animal from getting onto the zoo grounds.

Last week, KARK 4 reported on a similar attack at the Dunbar Community Garden (click here for the story), where feral dogs were believed to have been responsible for killing two goats, a rabbit and a rooster.
