A convicted murderer on death row appeared back in court on Wednesday.

Raymond Sanders, 52, is in a county courtroom this week in hopes of lifting his death sentence.

He was convicted in 1989 of murdering three people.

The new trial started with jury selection on Tuesday, but the court hopes to have it wrapped up by Friday.

Sanders has been held at the Varner Supermax unit in Gould.

The county says it's increased security because of the defendant and the expected crowds inside.
