Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe and the state Democratic Party have launched a television advertisement intended as a counter punch to a right wing political action group's ad slamming the Natural state.

The Beebe advertisement uses elements from a tv spot produced by Americans for Prosperity that claims Arkansas is failing economically and ranks toward the bottom of the barrel when it comes to education.

In the counter punch ad, Beebe steps into the opening scene and forcefully says: "Hold it!"

Arkansas Democrats put together the Beebe spot and are running it on cable television for the next few weeks in an effort to target viewers and voters in all four of the state's Congressional districts.

"We felt it was time to respond and tell people that they can't attack our state and attack our people," said Candace Martin, spokeswoman for the Democratic Party of Arkansas.

Americans for Prosperity is reportedly spending up to $100 million in more than two dozen states.

The political action group is funded by oil billionaires Charles and David Koch.

The Arkansas chapter of AFP did not return our calls seeking comment.
