A Van Buren woman has been killed in a house fire that also sent two police officers to the hospital.

It happened around 11 o'clock this morning on North 25th Street.

Police say the officers had to break out a bedroom window and crawl inside to try and save the woman who lived there.

The officers were able to get the woman out but she had already died.

The officers were taken to Summit Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.
