For the second straight year, the theme is "Ridin' Rockin' Livestockin'."
The 10-days of fun begins Friday and wraps up on Sunday, October 21st.
At the fairgrounds today, carnival teams that set up the rides on the midway are hard at work putting the pieces together to bring the rides to life. The biggest ride taking shape is the roller coaster. It stands 60-feet high and will have taken 300 man hours to complete when it's ready to go on Friday. Click here for the complete list of rides.
The fairgrounds were also all abuzz for Media Day, where fair officials share details of what's to come this year.
Also on hand were food vendors offering a taste of what you'll find to eat at the fair. That includes just about everything available at concession stands, from the typical to the unusual. Click here for a list of the 53 food vendors and their specialties.
The livestock show is another big part of the Arkansas State Fair. One of the competitors will be Lensey Watson, 18, of Bentonville. She brought her six-month-old, 100-pound Cotswald ram sheep "Bear" to Media Day and talked about their hopes to take home a blue ribbon.
The fun begins at 11AM on Friday, which is also one of two days KARK 4 sponsors the Ride-O-Rama (the other is the last day of the fair on October 21). Just buy an armband at a midway ticket booth and get unlimited rides all day (admission to the gate and parking are not included).
Food vendors were on hand with some of the items you'll find at concession stands this year including:
- cheeseburger on a stick
- deep fried oreos with chocolate chip cookie dough
- deep fried brownies
- gyros sandwiches
- chicken kabobs
- pizza (whole or by the slice)
- barbecue brisket sandwiches
- hot dogs in several varieties
- chicken wings in several varieties
- jumbo turkey legs
- cotton candy
- caramel apples
- funnel cakes
