Almost all the veterans living in a state run VA home in Little Rock have moved out.

Arkansas Dept. of Veterans Affairs reports it has now placed all but five in new care facilities.

The agency expects to have these veterans moved into new homes before the November deadline when it plans to shut down the old home for good.

The crumbling facility along Charles Bussey Drive has been plagued with problems too expensive to fix and in some instances, logistically impossible to remedy.

In July, VA Director Cissy Rucker made the decision to shutter the home and find other care facilities for the 60 residents who live there.

The employees who work there, roughly 63, will lose their jobs.

The state is holding job fairs and has entered their names into a database with the intention of helping those soon-to-be laid off workers get jobs with other state agencies.
